This Project was funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing
The TravelSmart EatSmart program brings together students in Years 5 -7 to learn about the Environment and Sustainability. The program will encourage students to develop a TravelSmart plan that encourage students to walk, ride, car pool or catch public transport to school to reduce greenhouse emissions, increase physical activity and decrease traffic congestion around the school. Students will also have the opportunity to develop an EatSmart activity as part of their plan. Watch this blog as kids report on their project progress.

Kids report their TravelSmart programs

At the Launch of the Millennium Kids Corner on Hype FM in March 2009 Students from South Perth Primary School and Curtin Primary School presented the benefits of young people having a voice in their community.  Exemplifying their successful TravelSmart school programs, the students outlined the benefits of using youth radio to get the 'TravelSmart to School' message out to the community.  Over the following weeks students from Wesley College, St Hilda's Anglican School for Girls and Scotch College had the opportunity to talk about their school TravelSmart initiatives. The MK Corner hosts also interviewed dietitian Ruth Dumont about the benefits of a healthy diet and lifestyle for study.
